Reef Dynamics Bio-Pellet Reactor for 135 gallon Systems: IN-SUMP USE ONLY

If you’re either using, or thinking of using, bio-pellets, Reef Dynamics has just changed the playing field. The new Reef Dynamics BPR135 Bio-Pellet reactor now takes using bio-pellets to a whole new level. Traditional bio-pellet reactors function by using a feed pump to tumble the bio-pellets, and a valve to control flow through the reactor. The inherent problem with this design, is that it does not allow you to control flow INDEPENDENTLY of the amount of tumbling. Meaning, if you want the media to tumble more, you’ll need to increase the flow through the reactor, and vice versa.

The all new Reef Dynamics line of Bio-Pellet reactors applies the same approach of a recirculating protein skimmers to bio-pellet reactors. This new line of bio-pellet reactors uses one pump to both circulate the water inside of the reactor suspending the pellets and feed the reactor at the same time. A completely separate valve controls the flow through the reactor. This allows you to increase or decrease the flow through the reactor, without dramatically impacting the tumble rate.

Strong build quality May 3, 2013
Reviewer: Brad Stefanko from Novi, MI United States
Very well built unit, and even better packaging.  I think it could have made it through a war and still arrive unscathed!  The design and functionality are excellent.

One confusing part is the description on the website says "In-Sump use only".  However the directions show how to use it externally.  It also comes with a couple of parts that allow you to set it up externally.

Thanks boys! I've very pleased with this unit.

Best Bio Pellet reactor April 14, 2013
Reviewer: Daniel Garcia from Corona, CA United States
Well the version I have was both internal and external.  I installed the bio pellet reactor externally.  The quality is way above other manufacturers (have a JNS one I'm replacing) and this one was built for me (at least that's what the sticker said ;) ) . I filled the unit with 500ml bio pellets bulk from premium aquatics. It just like the video on the website except I don't have a beard.  I have a bubble Magnus NAC6 so I needed a 1in to 3/4 inch reducer to have it connect to the inlet of the skimmer.  Now that I have seen the quality of work I want to save up for a custom sump and protin skimmer from them.
